Over the years I have learned that in order to have and keep joy in my heart, I must first start my day by rising at least an hour before sunrise and spend that time in prayer, reading my bible and seeking His face. My quiet time of early morning prayer and devotion is truly my favorite time of the day. The Lord has shown me literally countless things through the written word and by speaking in that “still small voice” the answers to so many questions regarding His will.

Many times, such as this morning, while reading Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling, when I go to my Bible to look up the accompanying Scriptures, I find the answer to one of my prayers in the Scriptures just above or below the one I was looking up! This morning it was in Philippians 4. I can’t tell you how many times I have read Philippians (literally countless) and know those verses so well, yet this morning they had a whole new meaning to me as it applies to one of my personal prayers.

It never ceases to amaze me how Good and Faithful our God is and how He is always nearer than we realize. We just have to stop and be still long enough to allow the discernment of our spirit to sense and feel His presence. It still gives me goosebumps to know He can be in so many places at one time and have such a deep personal relationship with each of us and make us feel so special and unique as if we are the only one He cares so much for.

The joy I get from knowing this is what I truly believe gives me perfect peace and unspeakable joy.

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

May you have a wonderfully blessed and joyful day in the Lord as you keep on keeping on for Him and seek His will for your life!
